Starbucks Takes Steps to Phase out Paper Cups

The coffee giant Starbucks is exploring reusable options for cups in a bid to get away from single use plastics. Starbucks is currently piloting reusable cups in a half dozen markets, and by end of year customers will be allowed to use their own personal cups at stores in Canada and the United States.  By 2025, the company hopes to give customers easy access to a personal or reusable Starbucks-supplied cup for every visit in most stores worldwide. Starbucks has a goal of reducing waste by 50% by 2030 and is testing multiple programs to cut down on single use cups globally. Some programs include customers paying a deposit for a cup that will be returned after use.
