New Zealand Plans to Regulate Supplements Via Self-Assessment
New Zealand’s Ministry of Health announced it intends to regulate natural health products (NHPs) via a self-assessment / declaration process. The Ministry has been drafting the Therapeutics Goods Bill for a while and recently unveiled the market authorization process for therapeutic goods. There are four parts to the bill each designed to achieve an optimal level of regulatory oversight while considering the nature of these products and circumstances. The new bill applies to natural health products, sunscreen, and low-risk medical devices and seems to be welcomed by industry.
