What's Your Score? New Food Health Ranking

A scientific team at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts has developed a new tool to support consumers, food manufacturers, restaurants, and policy makers.  It is a nutrient profiling system called Food Compass that ranks foods according to healthfulness using a comprehensive range of characteristics.  The system considers healthy versus harmful foods and incorporates cutting edge science on additives, nutrients, phytochemicals, etc. and objectively scores foods including mixed dishes.  The new Food Compass system was created using a database of 8,000+ foods and beverages routinely consumed by Americans.  The system was designed so that future attributes such as sustainability, bone health, gut health, etc. could evolve and be scored.
