Japan Revises the Ingredient Standards for Beverages

Recently, Japan MHLW (Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare) announced an amendment to “Standards and Criteria for Food and Food Additives”. Among other things the amendment revises the ingredient standards of mineral water including sterilized and unsterilized water products. The amendment also revises the standard for hexavalent chromium for mineral water. The amendment also impacts beverages other than water. Currently, it is not clear when the enforcement period will begin.
