A Swedish food start up company has unveiled the world’s first potato-based plant milk. The company claims the beverage works well in hot beverages and is kind to the environment. The brand, called DUG, says that the product minimizes climate footprint through efficient land use, low water consumption and reduced carbon emissions. The brand claims that potatoes can be grown twice as efficiently as oats and use 56 times less water than almond crops. The product is also naturally free from dairy, nut, and soy allergens. Thus far the brand has regulatory approval for sale in Europe.
