FDA Takes Steps to Facilitate Food Export to China

The US FDA is asking that establishments currently exporting certain foods to China to voluntary submit information related to new facility registration requirements. Earlier this year, China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) announced new registration requirements for all overseas food manufacturers, processors and storage facilities of food products exported to China. Those requirements are described in China’s Decree 248 and will take effect on January 1, 2022. The decree outlines eighteen product categories that fall under the new registration requirement.
