The Biden Administration announced that it will issue an executive order directing the USDA to issue new rules to support labeling transparency. This is an effort to provide accurate, transparent labels so that consumers know where their food comes from and to boost American farmers and ranchers. New rules will define what is meant by “product of USA”. The USDA will also develop a plan to increase farmers’ access to markets and stop agribusiness abuses from corporations. A new labeling standard may also be developed that would allow consumers to know when buying products that producers treated workers fairly.
