Codex And GFSI Take Global Action Against Food Fraud

The Codex Committee on Food Import and Export Inspection and Certification Systems (CCFICS) and The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) are partnering with the global food industry on the development of a new guidance document for food fraud. The final document is supposed to be released in 2024/2025, and draft versions will become available as well. Food fraud, also in connection with supply chain disruptions and organized crime, has become more rampant and needs to be fought globally with a concerted effort. The new document will include existing work and new initiatives, and will act as a guidance for food safety protocols and contain assessment, analytical methods, detection and tracing of food fraud, including animal feed.
