China Publishes Cosmetics Regulations for Kids

The Chinese National Medical Products Administration has published a new regulatory framework for oral care, personal care, and cosmetic products targeted for children. The regulation defined children as those aged 12 or under and children’s products as products targeted specifically to this age group and / or those indicated as suitable for use by the entire family.  The new legislation will take effect on January 1, 2022.  Products falling under the scope of the new regulation must be labeled with a mark to be released by the NMPA and carry an adult supervision warning. This requirement takes effect on May 2, 2022. There is also a provision for formulations to have minimal ingredients.
