China Proposes 2022 Food GB Legislation Plan

On June 8, China National Health Commission (NHC) opened the comment period for the draft of the 2022 National Food Safety Standard Legislation Plan. The proposed plan involved 41 food safety standards including GB 29938-2020 General Rules for Flavorings.  Other standards apply to herbs and spices, additives, and nuts / seeds as well as fortification requirements.  Also included are standards related to hygienic food practices and test methods for physical and chemical indicators such as moisture and fat.
