The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has established guidelines for simulated meat and product products but recognizes the need to update to include plant-based products that are not intended to resemble meat or poultry-based products.  The new guidelines will address the rules for labeling, advertising, composition, and fortification of these products.  There is also a requirement to identify that these products contained no meat.  The consultation on this closed on December 3^rd.
