CFIA Consultation on Simulated Meat and Poultry Products

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has established guidelines for simulated meat and product products but recognizes the need to update to include plant-based products that are not intended to resemble meat or poultry-based products.  The new guidelines will address the rules for labeling, advertising, composition, and fortification of these products.  There is also a requirement to identify that these products contained no meat.  The consultation on this closed on December 3rd.
