Ensure Quality, Compliance, and Post-Market Control of Food Supplements in Europe
This training is designed to equip professionals with a robust understanding of quality requirements applicable to food supplements, from product development through post-marketing surveillance. It combines regulatory knowledge with practical quality management tools, enabling participants to anticipate controls, mitigate risks, and strengthen product reliability across European markets.
Module 1: European standards in force
- General food law regulation (Regulation (EC) No 178/2002) and HACCP procedure
- Main quality criteria applicable to food supplements – focus on contaminants, pesticides, microbiology
- Stability studies
- Regulations applicable to packaging materials
Module 2 : Quality assessment of a food supplement and its ingredients
- Review of general quality criteria
- Ingredient specific criteria : example of additives, nutrients, plants…
- Quality control after each production
- Development of manufacturing specification for sub-contractors
Module 3: Available documents for controllers and post-marketing monitoring
- Food supplement technical file
- Reminder of the documents needed: French annex II, III,…
- Nutrivigilance: European overview, French and Belgium examples

Gaëlle Donaghy
Head of Regulatory departement
With more than 9 years of experience in health food regulations, Gaëlle leads our European regulatory team. The team works on product review and registrations, quality, due diligences, and more. The team monitors all the evolutions in the regulatory landscape. Gaëlle is participating in FoodChain ID’s Supplement Training Sessions and represents FoodChain ID supplements in different working groups including trade associations.
Clémence Le Roux
European Regulatory Affairs Officer
After 3 years as Quality and Regulatory Manager with a food supplements manufacturer, Clémence joined Foodchain ID a few years ago as part of the European regulatory team. She assists our customers in assessing the conformity of their products and in notifying them in EU countries. She also takes part in regulatory monitoring for Supplements R&D Insight. Building on her previous experience, she is involved in responding to Quality issues and contributes to working groups of industry associations.
