EU News on Food Supplement Regulations

EU rules on food supplements remain complex — while permitted vitamins and minerals are defined, maximum levels still vary widely across countries. In this on-demand webinar, our experts explain what’s changing, how it affects your products, and what’s next for EU regulations — from Article 8 of Regulation 1925/2006 to ingredient restrictions and dose limits.

There’s a lot going on around what can – and can’t – be used in food supplements across the EU. While current rules cover the types of vitamins and minerals allowed, there’s still no agreement on maximum levels, and approaches vary widely between countries.

This webinar addresses these ongoing discussions about article 8 of Regulation (EC) 1925/2006 as well as maximum level for vitamins and minerals. Indeed, currently, Directive 2002/46/CE establishes positives lists of vitamins and minerals and their forms authorized in food supplement. However, EU maximum levels remain to be established, and European authorities are working on establishment of harmonized maximum level. Most of the member states have fixed their own maximum daily doses applicable, but these levels differ significatively from country to country.
