FoodChain ID offers Plant-based and Vegan Certification to meet the rapidly growing consumer demand for plant-based products. The two certification options offer food companies the opportunity to communicate clear benefits to consumers, while also protecting brand reputation and mitigating risk based on rigorous standard requirements.
Plant-Based Certification is managed by FoodChain ID experts globally to offer one method for plant-based product recognition. In North America, FoodChain ID offers BeVeg Vegan Certification, the only ISO 17065 and 17067 accredited vegan trademark, and the only vegan certification standard with animal allergen controls.
For all product certification needs, customers benefit from FoodChain ID’s unique SupplyTrak® certification system, which allows management of supply data, documentation, and certification status across multiple certifications. The same supply chain data for Plant-based and Vegan Certification can be used for Non-GMO Project Verification and the USDA National Organic Program. Food processors manage multiple certifications in one place, making the process more efficient and saving valuable time.
Be sure to consider what other certification or quality programs you already operate, such as food safety certification or organic. There may exist the potential to coordinate audits to minimize disruption to facility operations and maximize cost-saving opportunities.
Complementary benefits: Food companies should consider the synergy of Plant-Based/Vegan Certification and Non-GMO Project together. In fact, approximately 52% of overall plant-based sales are Non-GMO Project Verified products, according to SPINS retail data.
BeVeg Vegan Certification is the only ISO 17065 and 17067 accredited vegan trademark, and the only vegan certification standard with animal allergen controls. FoodChain ID serves as a certification body in North America to ensure that products using the BeVeg Vegan trademark are truly vegan, meaning free from animal ingredients and no animal testing, according to BeVeg requirements.
FoodChain ID will provide a custom quote based on your operation type, number and type of products you are looking to verify, number and location of facilities, and your inspection timeline. Please contact sales@foodchainid.com if you are interested in a custom quote.
The BeVeg Certification process ensures the product meets requirements. Client answer a series of questions about ingredients, processes, animal testing, shared machinery, and chances for cross-contamination. Once initial documents are submitted, we send over the certification fee quote. Once the quote is accepted and a deposit is paid, we engage in our cross-examination process to ensure all suppliers and source ingredients maintain the BeVeg Vegan standard, including collection of legal statements and affidavits. Upon final receipt of all paperwork and signatures, we begin certification deliberations where products are reviewed and considered for BeVeg Vegan certification.
FoodChain ID Plant-Based Certification forbids any use of an ingredient, adjuvant or processing aid of animal origin throughout the production process.
Trademark use is governed by FoodChain ID. Labeling requirements will be shared with customers.
