UK Proposes Deforestation Legislation

The UK is considering new legislation that would fine large business for using commodities that put forests at risk via non-compliant supply chain practices.  Globally, 4 commodities have been identified as putting forests at risk:  timber and timber products, soy products, palm oil, and cattle products.  The UK proposes legislation to enforce due diligence for responsible, sustainable practices in producing these products.  This proposal is one step towards creating global environmental governance starting with forests.  Currently, this type of sustainability approach is voluntary, but businesses are experiencing greater supply chain scrutiny from both consumers and regulators. We have answers to your sustainability questions.
