Switzerland's Landmark Pesticides Poll

Swiss voters have decided on several popular initiatives at the polls last Sunday including a potential ban on synthetic pesticides.  A ban on synthetic pesticides would have been a historic decision for Europe with several large manufacturers weighing in on the debate.  Other questions on the voting referendum included an initiative to better protect drinking water.  Switzerland has a unique voting system that allows citizens to force a referendum on a popular initiative if 100,000 signatures from eligible voters can be secured. The results of the pesticides poll can be seen here, with over 60% of No votes.
