REACH registrations can pose a big burden for the Chemical Industry, including the Paint- and Coatings industry. REACH had a big impact on usage of chemical substances since its introduction.  A  new study by ECHA shows some positive outcomes, for example a decline in SVHCs. However, replacing established substances in recipes and formulations is costly and takes a lot of time and re-formulation work. Also, in some cases, REACH listings are questionable, for example for long-established substances which were previously used without posing a hazard, for example Titanium Dioxide.
