Mexico – FDA Food Safety Partnership
13 November 2020
Recently the FDA signed a statement of intent (SOI) that strengthens the food partnership between the USA and Mexico. It expands the scope of the original partnership to include all human food regulated by the FDA. The concept is to use new technologies to strengthen predictive and technical capabilities and facilitate a faster response to foodborne illnesses. Combining food safety and hygiene regulations with new technologies will also drive efficiency. This approach is in line with FDA’s “New Era of Smarter Food Safety Blueprint” which was recently implemented in the US.
