Late last month the European Pet Food Federation (FEDIAF) announced that it has released the latest version of its Nutritional Guidelines for Pet Food for Cats and Dogs. The updated guidelines are described as the best source for helping pet food manufacturers provide safe, palatable, and nutritious food for pets. The organization worked closely with its Scientific Advisory Board which is comprises of European pet food academics, laboratory scientists, and external consultants to develop an updated version of its nutritional guidelines. One objective of the new guidelines is to confirm basic nutrient levels required in dog and cat food and assure that the industry adheres to these.
