FDA Enforcement of FSMA Act

The US FDA says it will no longer enforce certain provisions of some regulations adopted under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The move is intended to give the agency time to address concerns raised by stakeholders through comments submitted to the docket and consider revision of some regulations. The announcement affects parts of the following regulations that took effect in 2016:  Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventative Controls for Human Food, Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP), Produce Safety, and Intentional Adulteration rules. Details are provided in a new fourteen page guidance document.  The announcement impacts regulations for both human and animal food.
