EFSA Publishes New Guidance for Feed Renewals
This month EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) published new guidance on the information applicants must include in their dossiers for renewal of feed additives. Feed additives are authorized for a period of ten years. Subsequently, applicants must submit a new request demonstrating that the additive remains safe for consumers, target species, users, and the environment. There is now published guidance to assist applicants in the renewal of the authorization of additives for animal nutrition. Assessment of renewal applications is simpler as they require only safety information unless changes to the additive are proposed. Such changes include processing variances or changes to the additive components.
