Dr. Heather Secrist Appointed as CEO of FoodChain ID Testing
FoodChain ID Testing NA, Inc. has appointed Dr. Heather Secrist as its new Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Secrist succeeds Bill Thompson who was appointed CEO of Genetic ID Germany. FoodChain ID Testing was founded in 1996 and has been a leader in the development of DNA-based technologies for the detection of genetically modified organisms in crops, food ingredients, and multi-ingredient food products.
Prior to becoming CEO, Dr. Secrist served as Executive Vice President, Global Technology at FoodChain ID Testing NA for two years during which time she was responsible for all aspects of global technical services. She oversaw development of new products and services and quality assurance, managed the Global Laboratory Alliance, and served as liaison to industry and government. She currently serves as a Board member of Cert ID LC, a company specializing in food safety and non-GMO certification. Dr. Secrist has 15 years of experience in the biotechnology industry and received her B.S. from Trinity University and a Ph.D.in Immunology from Washington University. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University.
Dr. Secrist said she expects to build upon FoodChain ID Testing’s reputation as a recognized industry leader in GMO testing methods, provide additional technical services to the food industry, and further develop the Global Laboratory Alliance into specialized technical centers of excellence around the globe. FoodChain ID Testing’s ISO 17025-accredited GMO testing technology detects all commercialized GMOs and precisely detects and quantifies GM material in a wide range of raw crops and processed foods.
