China Promotes Plan for Improved Dairy Safety and Quality
On December 30, the China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) released a plan for promoting improved dairy safety and quality. The plan outlines measures, tasks, and goals to support the three-year plan. By 2023, China will revise the “Regulation on the Supervision and Administration of the Quality and Safety of Dairy Products”. This regulatory update will establish and upgrade national standards for dry milk, raw milk, and other types of dairy and optimize the processing standards and test methods for these products. One overall goal of this plan is to improve domestic and global confidence in China’s dairy products including infant formula.
