Chile Amends Dairy Regulations

Earlier this month, Chile applied changes included in the draft amendments to Title VIII of Milk and Dairy Products, Food Health Regulations.  Several paragraphs were added to the Health Code to further define milk and the species from which is comes as well as the technological treatments permitted for use with milk.  New frontal labeling requirements for dairy products including milk and cheese were also introduced, and these include country of origin indications.  These changes along with others are now part of Law 21179 which was first published in draft form in November of 2019.  The requirements will be captured in the new FAIRS (Food and Agricultural Import Regulations and Standards) report for Chile published by the USDA.
