Glyphosate hazard classification remains unchanged in Europe

ECHA’s RAC (Committee for Risk Assessment) decided to retain the existing classification for glyphosate as a substance that is toxic to aquatic life and can cause serious eye damage. The RAC checked glyphosate’s properties agains the CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation). The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) will carry out a risk assessment of glyphosate. The European Commission will then draft a regulation whether the approval of glyphosate can be renewed in the EU.
