India Issues Regulation on Contaminants, Toxins and Residues

In August, the FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) notified gazette publication of the First Amendment Regulations 2020 which are related to limits for contaminants and toxins.  This notification further amends the Food Safety and Standards Regulation, 2011 which deals with metal contaminants, aflatoxin and mycotoxin and updates tolerances for heavy metals and mycotoxin.  The amendment addresses metal contaminants described in monographs of the India Pharmacopeia and specifies limits in foods.
