Whiskey Tariffs End

The 25% tariffs on whiskey between the United States and the United Kingdom ended this week. According to DISCUS (Distilled Spirits Council of the US) bilateral trade for the whiskey industry declined over 30% during the period from 2081 to 2021. American whiskey and Scotch whiskey are interconnected via bilateral trade and common production practices. The retaliatory tariffs were applied as part of an issue stemming from aircraft subsidies and aluminum, and practice actually began when the US placed a 25% tariff on foreign steel.  Industry in both countries is glad to see these tariffs eliminated. There are future plans to enhance US – UK trade via sectoral agreements.

See us at the DISCUS conference this week at booth 212 to check out our products and solutions for the Alcoholic Beverage Industry.
