UK Delays HFSS Restrictions

British consumers will get a breather on the cost of many snack foods and sodas due to postponing of the HFSS restrictions. Foods high in fat, salt, or sugar (HFSS) were set for restrictions related to promotions and multibuy discounts, but enforcement has been delayed due to the cost of living crisis. These restrictions were set to take effect in October 2022 but will now be postponed for a year which will give the industry more time to prepare and hopefully allow time for rising food costs to stabilize. The HFSS restrictions include ban on multibuy deals such as buy one, get one free and free refills on sodas as well as limiting advertising and product placement.
