That’s One Way To Make A “Light” Version
An elaborate scam of dilution of milk with water has come to light in Italy’s March region. Adding water to milk for cheese production, in this case mozzarella, is illegal. When the affected milk was sampled and analyzed at the beginning of its journey, it showed a normal water content. Once on the road, the hauling company operated a double bottom built into the truck that added water into the milk. In addition to the economical damage, the water potentially introduced bacteria, parasites and viruses. Such scams can be avoided by paying milk by protein content and not by volume upon arrival.
