Sunscreens Recalled due to Benzene
20 August 2021
A large company has announced the voluntary recall of five sunscreens after finding that they contain low levels of benzene which is considered a human carcinogen. All five of the sunscreens being recalled are aerosol products. The company recalling the sunscreens has assured consumers that daily exposure to the low levels of benzene in their aerosol sunscreen formulations would not be expected to cause adverse health consequences. Benzene is not an ingredient used in these sunscreens, so research is being done to find out how benzene got into the products.
