Study Says Avocado Consumption May Improve Gut Health

A study funded jointly by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture and the Hass Avocado Board shows strong evidence of a link between daily avocado consumption and gut health.  Regular avocado consumption may increase the number and variety of microbes in the human gut.  Avocados are high in dietary fiber and healthy mono unsaturated fats which play an important role in supporting the microbiome and health of the gut. Past research has shown the avocado consumption increases satiety but did not address avocados and a connection to gastrointestinal microbiata.
