Recall on Shampoo and Conditioner

Procter & Gamble has issued a voluntary recall of aerosol dry shampoo and conditioner from several of its brands due to the presence of benzene in some products. During an ongoing review of its products, P&G discovered trace levels of benzene in several of its aerosolized hair products across multiple brands.  It is believed that the benzene is coming from the propellant used in these products, and it was detected at very low levels. Other products such as liquid shampoo and hairspray did not contain benzene and are still considered fine to use. The low levels of benzene detected in the aerosol products should not be a significant safety concern, but the consumer goods company issued the recall out of an abundance of caution.  Benzene is a known carcinogen causing cancers such as leukemia.
