Single use plastic packaging for 30 varieties of fruit and vegetables is now banned in France, as another step towards reducing plastic in the country, and eliminating single use plastic by the year 2040. The ban exempts pre-cut produce and larger packaging units. In France, specific single-use plastic items such as cups, cutlery, straws and polystyrene takeout boxes are already prohibited since 2021.
