NWRA's Policy on Extended Producer Responsibility

Recycling is often quite challenging and may not always have an outcome that serves end markets efficiently. The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) published its policy position on EPR (extended producer responsibility). The five main problems with recycling are described as insufficient demand for some recyclables, low prices for the combined recycling stream, challenging behavior of consumers, plastic in the environment and currently still relatively inexpensive virgin raw material sources.
