No More Green Light For Titanium White

The European Food Safety Authority, EFSA, no longer considers E171 aka Titanium Dioxide a safe food additive. The reason is that gen-toxicity cannot be excluded and therefore the oral consumption is considered unsafe, since particles can accumulate in the body. Titanium Dioxide is used to make foods like sauces, soups, spreads and broths, more visually appealing. The substance is not banned right away, but  possible regulatory actions may be taken.
