New lecithin certification launched by FoodChain ID Certification Europe

FoodChain ID Certification have now launched a non-genetically modified certification system for sunflower lecithin.

The first of its kind, the system features polymerase chain reaction testing protocols with the aim to specifically detect the cross-contamination of soy in sunflower lecithin. This is useful for products such as chocolate, and other confectionery and baked goods.

Over the past two years, manufacturers have tried to replace large volumes of soy lecithin from their products to avoid GM issues.
