Myanmar Requirement for Purity in Flavorings Exempted

IOFI (International Organization of the Flavor Industry) received confirmation from the Myanmar Food and Drug Association that they have accepted IOFI’s request that there be a purity exemption for flavorings which are a blend of multiple substance.  Previously, the Myanmar FDA had a mandatory purity / identification requirement in place for flavors which was extremely difficult to support.  Going forward, the purity standard will be applied only to additives as outlined by Codex in the General Food Standard for Additives (GFSA).  The IOFI Information Letter #1738 can be seen in full detail by logging into either the FEMA or IOFI websites. Ask us if you have questions.
