Morning Brew May Lower Risk of Stroke and Dementia

According to a new study, drinking coffee or tea may be associated with a lower risk of stroke and dementia. Coffee is a source of antioxidants and other bioactive compounds, while tea contains catechins and polyphenols. Study results show that individuals who 2 – 3 cups of coffee or 3 – 5 cups of tea per day or a combination of 4 – 6 cups of coffee and tea had the lowest incidence of stroke or dementia. Additional studies are needed to learn more about the protective properties of coffee and tea consumed in combination. Because so many people drink coffee and / or tea daily, even small health benefits could be important to the overall population.
