The Operations Director is responsible for the operational performance of the Testing division with an emphasis on service delivery and process improvement. This is a hands-on position requiring lead scientist/analyst responsibilities in addition to operational oversight.
Responsibilities
- Ability to prioritize sample processing with management oversight. Responsible for meeting key performance indicators for the Testing business
- Drive efficiency and track cost management by utilizing metrics to assess the impact of business processes
- Expert understanding of analytical instrumentation, software, testing requirements and concepts in analytical testing (GC-ECD, GC-NPD, LC-DAD, GC-MSMS, LCMSMS, ICPMS)
- Technical resource to aid in resolving analytical anomalies
- Help develop and oversee the annual operations plan budget
- Work closely with senior management in developing long-term operational strategies that align with company objectives
- Plan and develop a staffing strategy in collaboration with senior management to ensure the division is appropriately staffed
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values technical excellence and a commitment to superior customer service
- Liaise with global Testing entities to standardize operational processes and drive efficiencies
Operational knowledge and skills
- 10+ years of laboratory experience
- Management skills including strategic planning, resource allocation, effective leadership, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing superior customer and personnel services. This includes assessment of customer needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Technical knowledge and skills
- Working knowledge of ISO 17025
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Working knowledge of Analytical Chemistry and Contaminant testing methods

Job Qualifications
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Science-related bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
- 10+ years of laboratory testing experience with special emphasis on analytical chemistry, contaminant and/or DNA-based testing methods
- 5+ years’ experience managing a testing laboratory, food or environmental testing experience highly desirable
- A combination of education and experience may be acceptable
