Honey With A Sting

The Philippine Department of Science and Technology conducted a research project on honey authenticity testing with isotope analysis which will assist in controlling honey fraud. According to the Philippine National Standard for honey, no other ingredients can be blended into honey. Also, no heat or other treatment must be applied that alter the honey’s properties. However, an overwhelming number of Philippine honey samples, over 75%, are adulterated and therefore non-compliant with these standards, hurting consumers and honest honey suppliers alike.
