Germany to Pass Supply Chain Act

The German Federal Government plans to pass a supply chain act in early 2021 that will require that will require companies to adhere to human rights and environmental protection measures.  The proposed act has gained support from food manufacturers and NGOs alike and will address gaps in the complex nature of supply chains.  It will require that European companies adhere to minimum standards of due diligence to prevent human rights breaches as well as cease environmentally destructive practices such as deforestation and interference with biodiversity.  Currently, many supply chains are opaque, and this act represents a move towards transparency and sustainability.
