French Mustard Shortage Continues

France is in the throes of a mustard shortage that will likely continue for several months. Many shops and markets in France impose a one mustard per customer limit and are still facing empty shelves that are normally stocked with various types of mustard. Extreme heat and drought decimated the mustard seed crops in Canada provides 80% of mustard seed exports to France, and escalating fuel costs and other supply chain woes are adding to the shortage. Many in France are wondering if it is time to repatriate the growing of mustard seed crops and production of prepared mustard products.
