Export Program to Boost Wisconsin Dairy

The Wisconsin State Assembly has unanimously passed Assembly Bill 314 which creates a program at the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) to promote agribusiness with a $5 million investment.  The bill is aimed at increasing the state’s exports of dairy, meat, and other agricultural products by 25% over the next five years. Last year Wisconsin exported agricultural and food products to 145 countries with a third of these exports going to Canada.   The DBA (Dairy Business Association), a dairy advocacy group, applauds the legislation. The bill will now move to the Senate where it is expected to be passed.
