Dirty Dozen List Warns of Pesticides

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) warns again of high pesticide levels in fruits and vegetables.  Strawberries continue to remain at the top of the list which has been published since 2004. The list identifies fruits and vegetables that have the highest concentration of pesticides so that consumers can make the best choices. Following strawberries are spinach, nectarines, kale, collards mustard greens, apples, grapes, cherries, peaches, pears, celery, and tomato. The 2022 list found over 90% of samples of fruits on the list tested positive for at least two kinds of pesticides. EWG also released a list of fruits and vegetables with the least amount of pesticides called the “Clean Fifteen”. That list includes avocados, corn, papaya, kiwi, onions, and mangoes.
