Edible Insects are already being consumed in some parts of the world. They provide an alternative source of animal protein at lower cost, better accessibility and lower environmental impact than traditional meat. EFSA, the European Food Safety Authority, is publishing articles regarding the safety of these novel foods, such as this article on mealworms and migratory locust food safety.
